The main objectives of WAAW 2019 were:
To raise global awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and its public health implications.
To promote best practices among the general public, healthcare professionals, farmers, veterinarians, and policy-makers to prevent the further emergence and spread of AMR.
To encourage coordinated action across sectors under the One Health approach.
To support countries in implementing their national action plans on AMR, in alignment with the WHO Global Action Plan.
